SXSW 2008

March 10th, 2008

I’m not there. But, one of my best friends—and my business partner Scott Faris is! If you see this guy walking around, go introduce yourself.
Scott Faris
Then say nice things about me to each other and while buying each other lunch.

By the way, Scott and I recently finished FarisWheel 2.0. We had a lot of fun building a site for ourselves—and building it the way we wanted it—a welcome change from clients telling us what to do all the time.

How to Become an Email Processing Ninja

August 27th, 2007

Merlin Mann recently addressed Google employees and advised them to become email processing ninjas. “Inbox Zero”, based on Getting Things Done by David Allen, he advises that your email inbox should be empty when you have finished checking your email. “Checking your email” shouldn’t consist of simply scanning your inbox for new messages and opening the few that catch your eye—it should be an actionable event. Each message has a place—often that place is the trash. Make that event happen as soon as possible. He further suggests turning off your email application for the majority of the day and only checking your email a few times per day. This will help you avoid the constant interruptions of new mail and actually focus on real tasks!

Bug Report

August 20th, 2007

The test case I published back in April, overflow: auto Allows Focus in Firefox, has been published on PPK’s Bug Report Blog. The Bug Report is a list of CSS and Javascript bugs including test cases and workarounds. Anyone can report a bug they’ve found, all that’s required is that you provide a test page which demonstrates the behavior you’ve discovered. It is advisable to search the current database before submitting a bug report to make sure someone else has not already documented it. Thank you PPK for hosting and managing this list.

More demos and tutorials can be found in the laboratory.
