ASP.NET Membership Provider Web Service

October 31st, 2009

A couple of years ago I was in need of a full featured membership provider provided over web services. I found Shaun Wilde’s project. Shaun’s project provided a membership and role provider over web services, but lacked a profile provider. I added the profile provider.

I ended up changing directions with the project I was working on and this code never got used in production. Testing on it was minimal and I haven’t touched it two years. However, I have received a large number of requests for the code…so here it is:

ASP.NET 2.0 Web Service Membership, Role, and Profile Provider

Feel free to post enhancements or suggestions here.

IE7.js Beta 3

October 26th, 2008

I somehow failed to notice that Dean Edwards’ IE7.js was bumped to beta 3 back in February. IE7.js is a javascript library which, when included in your web page, makes MSIE 5-6 behave like MSIE7. I found it to be extremely useful, particularly when dealing with png images.

I’m looking for a change log to find out what has changed from the original beta version to the beta 3 version. Does this exist?

Busy Day at the Office for Mozilla

June 17th, 2008

The much publicized release of Firefox 3.0 and the goal of setting a world record for the most downloads in 24 hrs has the Mozilla servers on the ropes.

Here’s a direct link to the setup file: Firefox Setup 3.0.exe. Good luck!

What I’ve Been Up to Lately

May 26th, 2008

I’ve been busy (…and a lousy blogger)!

First, much of the last months have been devoted to preparing for the birth of my son. Born almost a month ago now…healthy and happy! Preparation consisted mostly of reshuffling a large percentage of our belongings to make room in the house for his stuff. He doesn’t take up much room…but his stuff does.

Along the same line, we’ve decided we don’t have enough room in our current home to live like we are for very long. Don’t get me wrong, we feel blessed to have a home at all. But the fact is, between having a home work space for two adults and space for two kids to sleep and play, our 1200 sq ft home is feeling a little cramped right now. Therefore, we’ve been preparing our house for market, and saving a down payment.

If that’s not enough, I accepted a new position at Tyler Technologies about two months ago. I’m now in a management role as the Product Manager for the Special Projects Team. This has been an exciting challenge so far. I love making decisions and being the guy who’s responsible for making sure projects get done and stay on track.

This is the “catch up” post. Stay tuned for more….
