Since January I’ve struggled with the drive to eat healthier and exercise. My wife and I took up tennis lessons in April, and it was immediately apparent that the running required to survive a lesson was almost beyond me. A good friend recommended the Couch-to-5K Running Plan. I thought this was a good plan, but was disappointed with the lack of any easy way to track my progress. With this need in mind, I recreated the plan and with the addition of some basic progress tracking.

The idea is simple; each step of the plan has a check box. As you complete a step, you check the box. A cookie is saved in your browser…the next time you open the page it remembers what you’ve already checked…no database required! Take a look at the demo.

If you like it, help yourself. Feel free to download it, modify it, borrow it, or whatever. All the code is visible via view source. Here’s a zipped version, if you’d rather download it.

    Hi Shane,

Thanks for the ‘fly-by’ earlier. I think your progress checker is great and I will plug it at every opportunity. Fat Blokes need all the help they can get!

    Cheers.

@FatBlokeThin - I’m considering some “upgrades” to the progress tracker for a second release. I’m open to feedback if you have suggestions to make it more useful.
